The University of Toledo's Visual Arts department asked the New Media Design Practices class to create a brand for the department. What we settled on was "What is Art?" as a way to encourage students who did not know we had an art department or knew very little about it to ask that question and explore the arts further. We created a poster to advertise events, newsletters that were placed around campus and in coffee shops around Toledo, and stickers, which we put up all over campus and Toledo. The branding successfully took over the University of Toledo's main campus, and there were few places that a student could go without being confronted by the question: What is Art?
